Still dreaming about this Lake Michigan sunset with Abigail and Hunter.
Earlier this month, I had the joy of photographing Abigail and Hunter’s engagement session on the shores of Lake Michigan in Norton Shores, Michigan, just outside of Muskegon. This location is deeply meaningful to them. They live on the grounds of Maranatha Bible and Missionary Conference Center and wanted their engagement photos taken somewhere that reflects their story and the life they’re building together.
It couldn’t have been more perfect.
From the walk down to the beach through the tall grass to the golden light bouncing off the lake, every part of the evening felt calm, romantic, and completely unique. The beach was lined with large rocks, soft sand, and gentle waves that created the most peaceful background for their photos. This is one of the many reasons I love photographing engagement sessions along Lake Michigan. The natural elements always bring so much beauty and depth to each session.
Abigail and Hunter were effortless together. Their connection was easy to see, and they brought a blend of romance, silliness, and movement that made photographing them a dream. They naturally fell into each pose while still bringing so much energy and personality. I found myself smiling behind the camera the entire time.
Sessions like this are what remind me why I love photography.
Hunter’s family has been part of my photography journey for a couple of years. I photographed his sister’s wedding a few years ago, so being asked to capture this season of his life feels incredibly special. I loved getting to know Abigail, hearing all about their wedding plans, and learning what makes their relationship so full of love and laughter.
If you’re planning a Lake Michigan engagement session, especially near Norton Shores, Muskegon, or anywhere along the West Michigan shoreline, this session is the perfect inspiration. Whether you want something relaxed, meaningful, or filled with sunset light, I’d love to help you plan the perfect experience.
