What happens if it rains?
I usually keep an eye on the weather a few days before our session. Since we live in Michigan the weather forecast can change daily. I usually make the decision to reschedule our session if there is more than a 50% chance of rain the day of the session. If the session is time sensitive we can figure out an indoor option or moving the session time.
What should we wear for a family session?
I always suggest picking out outfits that you are most comfortable in. That doesn’t mean show up in sweatpants, but if you are not one to wear dresses don’t wear one. Try not to all choose the same colors or style of tops. We want your outfits to coordinate but not be matchy matchy. This isn’t 2000 Jcpenney. Before your session try on your clothes to make sure it fits, it is clean, and not wrinkled.
Some of my favorite stores to shop for clothes are H&M, Abercrombie, Old Navy, Stitchfix, and Amazon.
Do we need to bring any props?
Nope! I usually bring a neutral blanket, and either a chair, vintage ladder, or crate for your children depending on their ages. I love to keep the props simple and focus on the connection between the family. If you do have anything special or sentimental that you want included in the session you are more than welcome to.
Can we bring our pet?
Absolutely! Depending on the location that we choose, that should not be a problem. I love including your furry family members into the session. Not only is it adorable, sometimes the kids are so excited that it makes for some amazing photos. Please let me know prior to your session if you are bringing a pet and consider bringing a helper with you so you can take some photos without them.
What areas do you serve?
I am located in Howell and typically photograph in Livingston county, western oakland county, and northern washtenaw county. If you have a location in mind please let me know and I should be able to accommodate. There is a small fee if the location is more than 30 minutes from Howell. If you need location ideas here are a few of my favorite photography spots.
Do you offer a mini session?
Besides special holidays I do not offer family mini sessions. I find that mini sessions are way too fast and stressful for me and for the parents. Sometimes it takes the child 20-25 minutes to warm up to me and by that time the mini session is over. I am not after that one great shot but rather a gallery of amazing photos that showcase your family and connection.
Where should we order prints?
I do offer printing service in your online gallery but if you choose to print them yourselves I recommend Nations Photo Lab and MPix. Both are consumer labs with professional quality printing.
