There is something about an old weathered barn with exposed beams and string lights that has brides flocking to them lately. Fortunately Michigan is not without its share fair of rustic barns turned wedding venues. Sure you could go to The Knot or Wedding Wire to view them all but this curated list is much better and a lot shorter.
Black Barn Wedding Venue
For years, the Westers family has enjoyed hosting gatherings and events for their family on their scenic, 16-acre property; now, they want to share it with you. The 3,900-sq. ft. New England style barn is rustic, yet elegant, complete with separate men's and women's restrooms as well as a bridal dressing room and a groom's suite, creating a perfect space for weddings and other special events. On the east wall of the event space, you'll notice wall-to-wall glass garage doors that overlook a pond and the vineyard. Weather permitting, doors open up to a patio area for additional space for your guests and a beautiful view of the property. With each wedding booking, Black Barn Event Hall offers access to the building the day before the wedding in order to decorate and set up and access to the building the day after the wedding until noon to retrieve any items. Zingerman's Cornman Farms
Located in Dexter, Michigan, Zingerman’s Cornman Farms is a historic, 42-acre working farm that serves as a beautiful location for weddings. Planterra Conservatory
Planterra Conservatory is a wedding and event venue in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The conservatory is a glass-enclosed, botanical garden venue. It is family owned and operated business that has been open to the community since 2010. The Pliska family imported the botanical garden building from Izegem, Belgium, where glass and iron greenhouse structures are crafted in the tradition of Baron Haussmann’s Parisian arcades.

The Blue Dress Barn
The Blue Dress Barn introduced the “Wedding Barn” concept to the public in 2003. Making it the first Wedding Barn nationwide. This 2019 season will be the 17th year hosting weddings in the barn!

The Grande Belle
The Grand Belle is a delightfully picturesque barn wedding venue located in Holly, Michigan. This historic event space is located on 2 acres of scenic countryside and was once used in the processing of apples grown on the grounds. I have been following the progressing construction and development of this wedding venue for some time now. Scheduled to open in November of 2019 this beautiful 5,400 square foot wedding venue looks to be an amazing marriage of rustic and modern style (you see what I did there, marriage.....wedding venue....). This is the first of its kind in South Haven and to be honest one of a kind in general, at least from what I have seen. From their website they say that features will include a gracious 5,400 square foot main hall for dining and dancing and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and chandeliers. There will be space for indoor and outdoor ceremonies and private bride and groom suites, plus a well-appointed caterer’s kitchen with custom catering opportunities. They will have covered and open air patios will include fire pits overlooking a picturesque 10-acre vista. The building will feature a fully temperature-controlled environment and state-of-the-art audio/visual system.
Sign me up for sure. Again it says construction should be completed November 2019 and weddings will start in May 2020. Check out their website to learn more, they have some 3D renderings on their site and a drone video that mostly shows dirt but pretty cool none the less.
