Your Family Session...

Family sessions take place on location throughout Metro Detroit. I'll work with your family to find a location that best represents you. My style is best described as colorful and classic portraiture. This session includes  1 hour of photography and a gallery of 50-75 unique high resolution images available for download.  Prints and products are not included, but are available for purchase. A $100 non-refundable retainer holds your date and time and the rest is due the day of our session. Contact Keri for details on wardrobe and locations.

We have been seeing Keri for almost one year now and have had nothing but a wonderful experience. She is patient, kind and has a eye for catching life's little moments. Our family looks forward to every session we have with her. If you love still candid lifestyle moments caught on camera she is your girl. Her natural light concept and simplistic settings are what caught our attention in the beginning and has hooked us ever since.

Absolutely phenomenal! I love love love Keri so much. She is the sweetest, most encouraging, and patient lady I have ever met. I have a 4 month old and a two year old, I was so scared to have our first set of pictures cause I knew it would be crazy but she reassured me it would be okay... and it was. Instead of being letting me be upset my daughter wouldn't sit for a picture she chased her and shot live lifestyle instead. I have been back in Michigan about 4/5 months and already had 3 sessions with her, and another in the books. She's amazing, and couple that want to get those romantic pictures, people with kiddos to full of energy to pose, any and everything she's your girl. Highly recommended! Thank you again for being the so awesome.

Great experience from start to finish! We were so lucky to find Keri at K&D Photography. Communication is important to me and Keri was wonderful with answering any questions I had in a timely manner. Keri is laid back, so you don't feel any pressure during the shoot and her work is amazing! She's got a great eye, was super patient with our very busy 1 year old, and the turn around time to get the photos was great. We are looking forward to using Keri again!

I chose K&D Photography because I didn't want those cheesy, staged-looking photos you see a lot. I wanted to capture our relationship and our love for each other, and that's what Keri did. As soon as we arrived at the session, she was laid back and treating us like friends, not a client or subject. I also give her kudos for directing and dealing with a grumpy bride-groom. The photos turned out magical.

The only photographer I'll use!! She took my newborn first look and my breastfeeding shoot, and happened to get some great shots of my photogenic 6 month old by herself. We are coming up on a year and I hope I'll get to use her again!

Family Photography Questions

If you want to sum it up in a couple of words, my work is most often categorized as lifestyle photography. I love authentic images that are filled with emotion. I love bright colors and warm sunshine. I seek out genuine moments. Most photos are lightly posed, meaning I’ll help get you into place first and then encourage interaction and real expressions while we’re snapping away.
Sneak peeks are shared via social media 1 week after our session and galleries are emailed 3 weeks after our session.
My family sessions take place outdoors or in your home. While I do have a studio in downtown Howell it is not big enough or offer enough variety to photograph a family for an hour.
Something you are comfortable in and represents you! If you are not happy in what you are wearing it'll show in your photos. Please try to avoid all wearing matching outfits or shirts. Coordinating and choosing a few complimentary colors looks more modern and natural. I find getting outfit inspiration on Pinterest is a great resource. If you need help please reach out and I would be happy to discuss your wardrobe options.
We reschedule to the next available date that works for us. If there is a time constraint we can photograph in your home or in my studio.
It's rare when I can't get a kid to cooperate. A lot of times in that situation they are over tired, hungry, or hot/cold. If your child is grumpy the day of or not feeling well we can definitely reschedule for a different day that is better for your family. During the shoot if your child is very upset and nothing we are doing is calming them down or getting them into the photo then we will reevaluate and see if we need to reschedule. I want to make sure you get the photos you love and if that means being flexible that works for me!

Full bellies, well rested, comfortable clothing, and hyping up the session before the day of have been proven effective. You can read my blog post on how to get a child excited for their session here 

All clients sign an optional model release before the session. If you would prefer to keep your images private, just let me know at that time. For clients who choose to decline the model release, I absolutely respect your decision and will keep your images completely private.
Absolutely. I’ve worked in clients’ homes, and I’ve never found one that didn’t work. Don’t worry about the mess — nothing fazes me! If needed, I’ll help you move furniture/clutter around as we go.
I enjoy coaching my clients through having their photos taken, and I have a lot of experience working with families and kids, ensuring everybody looks their best. Typically when you’re having a great time, it will all come naturally and you will see that in your photos.
Pinterest is best used as an initial source of inspiration, rather than a strict guideline. I wouldnt want to focus on recreating someone else’s photos, that will leave us less time to create shots that showcase the unique aspects of your family.
